A flash of humor on translating
What to do but give life to language zombie? I mean, in your actual work as a translator rendering words, ideas, concepts into a partner's language, you certainly encounter lots of platitudes, shibboleths, jargons, or other gobbledegooks, or the like.....Then it depends on the partner's social position and working field, for you to make your word choice in the ad hoc communication. So far as my joke is not concerned, banal phrases like " năm bản lề " can not just always be " pivotal year", "vấn đề nổi cộm" can not be just "urgent matter", but possible " thorny issue" or even " horny libido", lol! Anyway, it's not always a headache, given your sense of humor!
